How many articles of clothing that used to be favorites are just hanging in your closet because they don’t quite fit right anymore? Don’t underestimate the magic of body shapers. They come in a variety of styles relative to what body part you are looking to minimize.  A customer came into the store with one she had just purchased that was still in the bag. She tried on a sweater in a size medium that was a little too tight but  the large was too big. We both decided to put her shapewear to the test. No one was more surprised than I at the transformation. With the shaper on, the medium was a perfect fit. Not even a ripple was apparent. Now, I know what you’re going to say. “Aren’t those uncomfortable?”  Try one, I think you will be surprised. They are also confidence boosters when you have a special event to attend and want to look your best.

Morrissey’s does not carry these transformers but here’s a site that will give you an overview of what’s available. And,  get this……there are even shapers for the arms.

Remember….. beauty, for most of us, is just an illusion. Why not capitalize on the tools that keep that illusion front and center.

Another important tool has to do with choosing colors that flatter your skin tone.  Interested?  Read on.

We’re well on the way to making your shopping experience  more pleasurable. We know our shape and  have a better understanding of what styles look best on our body. If  we need to smooth the lines under our apparel, we’ve been introduced to shapewear. We even know what colors enhance our features and those to avoid.  Let’s take a look at how balance plays a part when you are choosing clothes.

Tim Gunn, fashion guru, has an interesting article on this topic with a cute trick to help keep styles aligned with your natural shape. Molly Hardin has another perspective on proportion as it relates to achieving the appearance of an hour glass figure (perfect symmetry) through clothing choices.

Just a reminder:  if you have on a loose top, make sure you pair it with a slimmer line on the bottom; if the top is a more fitted shape, then wear those wider pants and fuller skirts.

The style and shape specific articles are filled with suggestions that assure you are put together in proportion to your height, weight, and shape. Click on the links above if you haven’t already read them.

Here are a few photo’s to give you a visual on different proportions:
