This is one of the most frequently asked questions at Morrissey’s. Part of the reason for this confusion is that some of us have coloring characteristics for more than one season, but I’m getting ahead of myself. Knowing what colors work for you is as important as knowing your shape and what styles look best on that shape. On second thought, lets move color to the top of the list because even if you haven’t quite got the shape and style thing down and are wearing a color that enhances your skin, hair, and eyes you’ll be forgiven.

There are four primary seasons that are based on the color of our hair and skin tone.

Colors of winter in the Rogue ValleyWINTER COLORS

Medium brown to dark brown or black hair with ash or bluish tones. Skin will have cool undertones of pink or blue.

Spring colors in the ApplegateSPRING COLORS

Light blonde to medium brown hair with golden highlights. Skin will have warm undertones of peach or yellow.

Summer colors in White CitySUMMER COLORS

Light blonde to deep brown hair with ash tones. Skin will have cool undertones of pink or blue.

Colors of autumn in AshlandAUTUMN COLORS

Red to dark brown or black hair with golden highlights. Skin will have warm undertones of peach or yellow.

Winter’s colors are vivid, clear, or icy. Spring’s colors are delicate and also clear. Summer’s colors are cool and soft. Autumn’s colors are strong and warm. If you’d like to find what season you are, this site will walk you through the steps.

We all have a primary season of color. Yet, curiously, there are some colors we can wear that don’t fall under this prescribed season. These colors are called your “flow season” suggesting that some of us also have elements of another season. The diagram shows the relationship between your primary color palette and your flow season.

If you’re still not confident what colors look best on you, bring a friend or two and come to Morrissey’s. I’ll take a selection of varied colors into the dressing room and we’ll oooh and ahhh over the shades that make your skin glow and nix those that don’t. If nothing else, your true friend(s) will surely let you know. Have a color party!

It is my intent that you have all the resources needed to look your best at your fingertips. Now, let’s balance everything out…….
